Our Chemical Peel:

Chemical peels are versatile tools that are used to resurface the upper layers of your skin while stimulating the collagen beneath the skin to form and align, which in turn plumps up the fine lines and scars from below the surface. They have been around since Cleopatra bathed in milk (contains lactic acid!) to make her skin smooth. Fortunately, science has made a lot of progress since then and the chemical peels available now are sophisticated and effective. Peels vary in strength from very light “lunch time peels like a 10% Glycolic Acid peel to The Jessner’s and TCA peels, to very deep peels such as the Phenol peel which require close monitoring by physicians for application.

The Jessner’s Peel is a light to medium peel, the depth of which is controlled by the amount of time you leave it on your skin and the number of layers you use. This is a very safe peel and is suitable for all skin types, especially those with oily or acne prone skin. Some darker skin tones, particularly African American run a small risk of post peel hypo pigmentation. As with all products, a patch test is recommended to see how your skin reacts. Of all the peels, the Jessner’s peel has the best track record for darkly pigmented skin peels.

Salicylic Acid is a Beta Hydroxy Acid and is the only oil soluble acid used in skin care. This makes it particularly suited to acne prone skin and oily skin types. Salicylic acid helps dissolve the dirt, sebum and debris in your pores that cause blackheads, enlarged pores and acne outbreaks. It also helps reduce oil production and provides gentle exfoliation.

Lactic acid is an Alpha Hydroxy acid that helps encourage cell turnover and stimulates collagen formation while helping to smooth and soften skin.

Resorcinol is an effective exfoliator that helps loosen the damaged skin layers to expose the new fresh skin beneath while also stimulating collagen to form.
